LABOR MATTERS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. l 7The Wellington Employers’ Association is taking a poll of employers in the district with a view to discovering their opinion as to whether the Arbitration and Conciliation Act has been beneficial in promoting good feeling and increasing the efficiency of workmen, or whether it has been productive of evils in creating disputes between employers and employed, and limiting the development of trade. BANK OF NEW ZEALAND. Sir James Prendergast has been appointed director of the Bank of New Zealand. DREDGING. The Kokikohi dredge return was 20oz, for 130 hours. PRISONER’S COMPLAINT. The report of the Royal Commissioners who investigated charges made by a prisoner named Edward Wilson, against Warder Murphy, of the Point Halswell Prison, has reached the Minister for Justice. The report entirely exonerates Warder Murphy from charges brought against him.
