BETTING MARKET. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, Feb. 27. The latest betting is Newmarket Handicap : Five to two Sir Foote, six to 1 Aurous, seven to 1 Drawbridge, 10 to 1 Ibex, twelve to 1 Corinthia and Wanin'. A thousand to fifty is wanted about Sir Foote and Aurous for the double, a thousand to sixty-five being the best otler. FLEMINGTON NOTES. By telegraph—Pres3 Association— Copyright Melbourne, Feb. 27. Before daybreak Centurion went ten furlongs in 2.18. f. Sir Foote and Orra, the latter plated, went five furlongs on the tan in 1.8. Bluo Metal went twelve furlongs on the tan in 2.43, the last eight occupying 1.47). La Carabine went twelve furlongs on the tan in 2.46, which constitutes a record. Flintlock, Barbarossa, and Spartan went twelve on the sand in 2.471. Iron Hoop lost Grasspan in a mile gallop, in 1.49}. Presto did five furlongs in 1.74, Flagstaff twelve in 2.43, Victory five on the tan in 1.7, Cretonne eleven in 2.441, Timber twelve in 2.58), Haymaker and Gazelle eleven iurlongs in 2.85. By Telegraph—Pres3 Association. Woodville, last night. The weather was again splendid and the attendance largo. There were largo iields and exciting finishes. The principal event was won by Wilson, who paid a £l9 6s dividend. The same horse nearly appropriated the High-Weight. Richardson’s Hinekura won three events at the jneoting. The results were : —- Stewards’ Handicap : Hinekura 1, Ika 2, Flying Jib 3. Platypus was scratched. Won easily. Time 1.32 8-5. Divs., £4 19s and £2 2s. Hurdles: Euckaris 1, Pukana 2, Cobra 3. Won by two lengths. Time 2.57 2-5. Divs., £2 9s and £1 2s. Ruahine: Waiwora 1. Waitoa 2, Flying Jib 8. Velocity was scratched, In this race, Shelldrake broke his leg, and had to be destroyed. Waionui foil, and Lawry, the rider, had his arm broken, and was otherwise badly injured. Waionui lost J , one eye. Waiwera won very easily. Time 1.35 1-5. Divs., £2 18s and I9s. Autumn Handicap: Wilson, 7.8 (Gr. Todd), 1; Van, 7.7 (Price), 2 ; Rebel, 8.8 (Jackson), 3. All started. Won all the way. Time 1.55 3-5. Divs., £l9 6s and £1 Is.
Telegraph : Hinekura 1, Platypus 2, Aroba 3. Artisan and Mooi were scratched. Time 1.18. Divs., £1 16s and £1 6s. Railway : West Guard 1, Turepo 2, Waituru 8. Lingerer was scratched. Won easily. A protest for inconsistent running was dismissed. Time 1.6 1-5. Divs., £2 16s and £1 14s. Scurry: Procrastinator 1, Mooi 2, Lady Help 3. Hardgraft, Waiotohi, Velocity, and Waiwera wore scratched. Won by a length. Time 1.8. Divs., £4 and 18s.
High-weight: Laurestina 1, Wilson 2, Comfort 3. Won by two lengths. Time 1.45. Divs., £4 11s and £1 9s.
