WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.

(Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, last night

At the Wesleyan Conference business was resumed in representative session. Several committees were set up to deal with the business coming before till! Conference. A report on church property was presented by Dr. Morley. Considerable activity was shown in dealing with church property in several parts of the colony. Ten new ehurches had been erected, four others enlarged, fourteen additional sites acqi.iied, and one schoolroom and one gymnasium erected. The total cost of erections and enlargements was £6295 ; minor improvements, £794. ’Hie debts reduction (net) during the year was £561(1, largely through subscriptions to the century fund. The Oamaru church was specially mentioned in this connection. The percentage of debt for the whole colony is 13.6 per cent., very much lower than in the other colonies. Discussion took place regarding the erection of a gymnasium at Wanganui, objection being taken to building without the sanction of the loan fund committee first being obtained. Approval 'was given to the proposals of the trustees of the Grey Institute. New Plymouth, regarding the leasing of the property. The following were elected as lay members : Stationery Committee : Messrs Winstone, Hetherington, ,Trounson, Cobbis, Dixon, cas. Griffen, Liller, Daniels, Blakwell, Manchester, Smith, Rosevear, Shacklrck. Several important committees sat during the afternoon and evening, and will report at a later stage of the Conference.
