WHAT WELLINGTON IS DOING

Wellington, last night.
A meeting of the Executive of the Seddon Presentation Committee was hold to-day. It was decided that lists be circulated in the city and districts from Wellington to Woodville and New Plymouth, except Wanganui, for signature to tho testimonial, of which the following is the text: —“ To tho Bight Hon. Richard John Seddon, P.O.D.C.L. —In tho course of a few weeks you will leave us to represent New Zealand at the Coronation of our King, and it is thought your- approaching departure presents a fitting time to express to you our appreciation and approval of tho prompt and practical proof you have given of the sympathy of your fellow colonists with their Motherland in South Africa. Loyalty is but kinship written large, and every man and woman of this colony is proud of the crimson thread which makes tho people of New Zealand loyal sons and daughters of the British Empire. Your high offico has been to voice our loyalty and give it effectual shape, and the vigor and judgment you have displayed in this have not only won our gratitude and admiration, but have shown tho world that whatever he the sacrifice, we cheerfully take our stand beside tho Mother Country for the maintenance of her honor and the integrity of her empire.” Copies of this will bo left for signature at certain places in the city, and will he taken around to residences by persons appointed fur the purpose. The latter will also be empowered to receive subscriptions towards a purse of sovereigns, but donations are not to be asked for by the collectors of signatures to the address.
