GISBORNE SHEEPFARMERS’ FREEZING COMPANY.

- INCREASE IN PRICE OE SHEEP. i 1 The committee for the sheepfarmers yes--3 terday were able to obtain an offer of 11s 1 3d per head from Mr Borthwiek for all " wethers 601 b and upwards, 2d per lb ' deduction for weights under 601 b. This l - price will cover all shareholders’ sheep ’ sent in without special instructions which 1 are selected and penned as prime. Shareholders, on the other hand, who prefer to freeze on their own account or to sell to ’ others are in no way restricted, ! The object the committee have attempted to attain is to ensure to all share- ' holders an ascertained good price for good ’ sheep. Buyers often do not find it to ' their advantage to visit small runs, as the drive obtainable may be small. Owners of such runs taking advantage of the j arrangements made can by instructions send down their stock when penned in a united drive, and will not have to look about for a buyer. The terms upon which buyers are placed who send in stock for freezing have also been fixed, and will be uniform to all buyers alike. On the principles of co-operation which are being followed throughout these terms are only extended on a specially favorable basis for sto-k purchased from shareholders. Mr Borthwiek’s prices will be subject to revision as the season advances. The great benefit derived from such an arJ rangement by shareholders is obvious.
