In the House of Lords Lord Onslow, replying to Lord Lamiiigton, ex-Go-vernor of Queensland, saiu that the Pacific Island Laborers Bill was a subject entirely within the 'Commonwealth jurisdiction. Doubtless care would he taken that laborers returned to their own villages. At the Bank of Liverpool trials, Francis Kelly and William Stiles pleaded guilty of conspiracy. Kelly offered to restore twenty thousand pounds, and .Stiles £3570 to the bank. 'Die Judge insists on the fullest possible restitution. Sentences wjll be passed on Saturday.
