ACTION AGAINST THE OHAIEMAN

Wellington, last night. Mr Jellicoe, solicitor, has issued a writ against Mr Haselden, S.M., claiming £5Ol damages for alleged defamatory statements made by Mr Haselden as Chairman of the Point Halswell Gaol Commismission, at the opening of the enquiry on Monday last. The Prison Enquiry- Commission concluded hearing evidence to-day. A warder named Murphy gave evidence denying the truth of the charges made against him in regard to his treatment of prisoners at Point Halswell.
