THE PREMIER’S TESTIMONIAL.

Napier, last night,
A meeting to see what part Napier should take in the proposed testimonial to the Premier was held this evening, the Mayor presiding. There was a good attendance, including several Government representatives and Oppositionists. Patriotic speeches were delivered by the Mayor, aqd Messrs A. L. D. Fraser, M.H.8., B. S. McLean, C. B. Hoadley, H. A. Cornford, and T. Tanner. A letter was read from the Omahu Maoris, according their most hearty support to the proposal, and promising a donation to the funds. The following resolution was carried unanimously : “ That this meeting desires to record its hearty appreciation of the manner in which the Bight Hon. the Premier has made available to the Empire the willing services of this colony, and cordially approves of the proposal to tender him a testimonial in recognition of his prompt and decisive action.” A committee was appointed to carry out the details.
