It is surprising how little consideration for the fair fame of her own sex the female reformer displays when she is setting about her mission of putting the world right. And not only the female reformer. Frequently, the female novelist scruples not to parade and exaggerate the weaknesses of her own sex for the sake oi dramatic effect and pecuniary gain. And invariably, in private life, man s inhumanity to man is a paltry circumstance compared with the inhumanity that woman show towards weaker women.
