COMMERCIAL
Messrs Daloety and Co., Limited, report ;_•* We held our stock sale on Monday at Makaraka yards. There was a fair yarding of cattle, principally young steers and heifers. Tbe demand was light, and buyers did not bid up to owners’ reserves in many eases. W e solu 24-year heifers at .£4 ; good forward store bullocks, £5 5s ; run cows, .£4 ; and calves, 41s and upwards. Sheep : the yarding of sheep was small. Rains failed to reach owners’ reserves. Two-tooth wethers made 6s 6d ; 2 and 4-tooth ewes, 5s 9d ; old ewes, 3s to 4s. The prices made by sheep were disappointing, but we have no doubt that on tbe opening of the Gisborne Freezing Works there should be a better demand.”
