OUR SOLDIERS.
[By Telegrapn—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. It is now understood that the departure of the Ninth Contingent will take place on March loth. At a meeting of the committee appointed to carry out the details in connection with the send-off of the contingent, held to-day, tho secretary said he estimated the cost of the send-off at close upon £3OO. It was resolved that collectors be urged to make strenuous efforts, and report results to the next meeting, to bo held in a week. It was considered that no time should be lost in getting to work. It was further resolved that the secretary write to the steamship companies to ascertain what would be the cost of a suitable steamer for charter to accompany the troopship down the harbor.
