PREMIER TESTIMONIAL
(By Telegraph —Press Association.) Auckland, last night. A mooting of the committee appointed to carry out the details in connection with the proposed testimonial to the Premier was held to-day. The Mayor said that he had telegraphed to the ■ M a y° rs ° £ Wellington, Dunedin, and Christchurch, asking the line upon which they intended to go. A reply was received from the Wellington Reception Committee in favor of a large presentation, and asking AucMand to forego the banquet. Mr G. G. btead, Christchurch, replied-that that centre would act in uniformity with others, and favored a purse of sovereigns. The Mayor suggested that the presentation should be given when the Premier saw the Ninth Contingent off. The resolution was earned unanimously. It was further decided that circulars be forwarded to 135 members of the Committee and about 70 other leading men, together with subscription lists, subscriptions to be from Is upwards.
