SHEEPFARMERS’ FREEZING COMPANY.
PURCHASE OP GISBORNE WORKS. So far as is finally possible, until all the shares which are promised to be taken up in the new freezing company are actually subscribed, the base of a contract of sale and purchase of the Gisborne Freezing Works has been concluded. The price to be paid, which has been fixed, has not yet been made public, but it is said to be a good deal below the valuation. The details requisite to carry out a contract of this magnitude will necessarily take some time to complete. Such delay will not, however, retard the re-opening of the Works, as both vendor and purchasers are agreed as to the desirability of a start being made at the earliest possible moment. The works can be ready on Monday next, and there is every reason to believe that at that date work will actually commence. Mr J. R. Jones will be in charge for this season. Mr T. Coleman will act as interim secretary, while Mr G. Wyilie will for a start act as selector of stock. These appointments are tentative, and dependent upon the completion of the contract, which is now fairly assured.
