.SHORTHAND REPORTERS. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. Mr Silas Spragg, Chief of Hansard -stall, has made arrangements for the examination of candidates for employment as shorthand reporters hi the law courts under the Act of 1900. The examination in Wellington, where there are six candidates, will he held next week and Mr Spragg will then visit Christchurch and Dunedin for ttie same purpose. COMPENSATION. In the Compensation Court, in the case Fitzgerald versus the Kilburne ami Karori Tramway Company, the claimant was awarded £126 damages. None of the claimant’s land was taken but he alleged that his property had been injured by the carrying out of the construction operations, and by the proximity of the line. SALVATION ARMY.
Commissioner McKae, of Lhe Salvation Army, arrived to-night, and was warmly welcomed by the local corps.
