(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The Premier yesterday received the following cablegram from Colonel Davies: “ Arrived this morning; all well; ono horse died.”
Auckland, last night. The Ninth Contingent is daily busy at mounted drill and rifle practice. There are now a large number of horses in the lines, and 120 for mounts are expected to arrive on Monday. Yesterday morning Lieutenants Coventry and Neale, of Wellington district, arrived by the Ngapuhi from New Plymouth, and proceeded to camp. They have been appointed actinglieutenants in the Contingents. Dr F. W. King, of Auckland, proceeds to South Africa with the North Island Battalion of the Contingent as surgeoncaptain.
A large number of additional saddlos of local manufacture have been received at camp.
