TRAP ACCIDENT.

A CONTRACTOR KILLED.

[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Christchurch, last night. This morning an elderly man named James Cooksley, a contractor, residing at Opawa, was found dead in the Heatheote river, near the Opawa bridge. He left town late last night to return home with a horse and trap, and this morning the horse and trap were found in the river beside the body, but the horse had been taken out of the trap. The body was brought to Christchurch morgue to await an inquest.
