BANKRUPTCY.
STATEMENT OF ARTHUR FRANCIS CUFF.
In the estate of Arthur Francis Cuff the following statement has been filed with the Deputy Official Assignee : I have lived in Poverty Bay for 32 years and have always paid my way up to the present with the exception of a loss that 1 had about 13 years ago on a maize crop. ,1 was then on the Mission Station at Waerenga-a-hika and had two bad crops running. The Mission Estate Trustees took back the land, remitting the rent for the improvements, and Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. took the crop and credited me with the proceeds. I was not aware until six years after what the actual deficiency was until I received a summons for £9O odd, and on the 19th September, 1895, I confessed judgment for £94 18s Bd. I then endeavoured to make arrangements to pay by instalments, but was not successful. I heard nothing further about the matter till the 7tli inst when on going home I found that the bailiffs were in possession. As it was hopeless for me to attempt to raise skcli a large sum, and in order to protect the interests of the other creditors there was nothing left for me but to file, which I did.
