FARMERS’ FREEZING COMPANY.
LIST OF SUBSCRIBERS ALMOST COMPLETE.
There is -every prospect of the proposed Gisborne Fanners’ Meat Freezing Company being successfully formed within the next few days, as only several hundred shares are required to complete the list. The position at present is as follows : Shares subscribed, U 573 ; promises, -1351 s ; old siiares, 1289 ; available, 2000 (these arc referred to in the report as the Shaw-Savill Company’s shares), mak-
ing a total of and leaving a balance of 783£. There is every probability of the full list being subscribed to-day, and the way will then be clear to commence operations. Several hundred shares have been taken up since the meeting was held last Saturday, and it is not anticiP
jated that there will he much difficulty in disposing of the small balance
that is left. In the interests of farmers and the district generally, it is to be hoped that nothing will be al-
lowed to interfere with the success of the movement. It is computed that with the Taruheru works going at the full capacity of 1200 sheep a day, there will still remain 80,000 sheep that cannot be frozen during the present season unless the Gisborne freez-
ing works are made use of. Under these circumstances every effort should be made by settlers to get an early start, so that the season may not be lost.
