The newspaper Deutsche Reichsgaigea states that in his official despatches Count Holleben, German Minister at Washington, on April 15th, regarded the proposed note somewhat coolly. He mentioned Sir Julian Pauncefoto as the initiator. The Kaiser entered his dissent from the note on the margin of the despatch. Perth, Feb. 14. The cable steamer Scotia has aboard
1500 miles of cable. After this is laid, the cable staff join the steamer Anglia, which will lay the Pacific cable between Brisbane, Norfolk Island, and New Zealand.
