RAM FAIR.

Wanganui, last nign.. Messrs Frooman, R. Jackson, and Co.’s central ram fair began to-day. The attendance was very large, but it was manifest that Lincolns, which have hitherto been so prized on this coast, wore at a discount, and that English and Border Leicestcrs, of which thoro were comparatively few entered, were more appreciated. For the latter, there was keen competition, tho New Zealand and Australian Land Company’s averaging £5 10s 7d, W. Boag’s £4 15s lOd, G. G. Russell’s £3 9s 3d, A. Martin’s £5 19s, S. Holmes’ £s los 3d, Threlderd s£s 2s 4d. Romneys wero neglected, making only £2 4s 6d. Of studs, Terry Bros.’ English Leiccsters made ilO Is, S. Holmes’ ill lid. Of Lincoln studs, Rayner Bros.’ brought the highest average, with £ r J 15s 3d. In Lincoln flocks, B. Sutton’s averaged tho highest, making £3 0a 9d. The others averaged £2 8s 3d, £1 ll s 6d, down to £1 Is.
The sale continues to-morrow. Tho weather is fine, although threatening.
