Overhanging Trees.
.To the Editor of the Times.) Sir, —I would like to draw the attention of the Borough authorities to the large number of trees that overhang the footpaths in various parts of the Borough. I do not object in the slightest to the trees overhanging, provided they do not hang too low an overhanging tree protects the pedestrian from the scorching rays of a summer sun ; but what I do object to are the branches that hit people in the face as they pass. On Sunday, it being a wet day, the boughs were laden with moisture, and they were thus hanging very low, and I was compelled, with others, to virtually creep along to escape the boughs. I would like the Council to compel the owners to keep their trees trimmed to a certain height, and if this were done my grumbling would cease.— I am, etc.|
