He states that only three tenders were rece' ;ed providing for distribution to the voops on the spot, which is require! ai of primary importance. The lowest tender being from a firm closely associated with Australia and New '/osland. In order to secure the interests of the colonies the Secretary of War before accepting the tender obtained an assurance in writing that so far as possible supplies would lie drawn from Australia and New Zealand m preference to the Argentine. The Colonial tenders were partial, and for ce’ivery to base ports only.
