By Telegraph. Press Association. Copyright Sydney, Feb. 10. Playing for Sydney against Burwood, Marsh, the aboriginal bowler, secured eight wickots for 34, the first fivo for nil. It is now suggested that tho selectors of the Australian team should invite him to practice at the nets. It is believed that Barnes will be quite unfit to play in tho pext test match.
(By Tolegraph—Press Association. Napier, last night Dent, who has been selected as one of tho North Island cricket team, is now in hotter form than over. Playing against Country on Saturday ho capture! seven wickets for 12 runs. It is unlikely that Trott will bo able to play in the North v. South match, owing to the limited time ho has at his disposal for coaching purposes.
At a meeting of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association, held in the Masonic Hotel last evening, it was decided to invite H.M.S. Penguin to play the return match with the Gisborne players on Saturday next, and Messrs A. S. Seymour, 11. Howland, and W. An-
drews were appointed a selection committee to pick the Gisborne rkven. It was decided to invite Mr J. A. Caesar to bring his eleven to town on Saturday next, in order that a match may he played between the elevens which meet the Penguin players in tewn and country. This match would he played on No. 2 pitch, and the public would, therefore, have an opportunity of witnessing two first-class matches on the same ground., Tho County Club has quite a number of matches on hand. Tho game between Ormond and Waihuka, to bo played at an I early dato, is exciting great interest. Tho County mon intend sending an eleven through to Wairoa at Easter, to play a series of matches there, and tho players are looking forward with pleasure to the trip.
The members of H.M.S. Penguin’s cricket team are prepared to play a return match with the Gisborno players on Saturday next. At the Domain on Saturday afternoon a scratch match was played, teams being chosen by G. Johnstone and J. Gibson. J. Gibson’s team scored 34, to which Johnstono’s team replied with 60, the latter team thus winning by 26 runs. The scores were :
