At Lyttelton the contingent met with a hearty reception, and after depositing their baggage on board they paraded, being supported by the North Canterbury battalion, They were addressed by the Premier, General Babington, Hon. W. C. Walker, and the Mayor of Lyttelton. They then embarked, and were accompanied to the heads by several of the U.S.S. Company’s steamers. As they passed the contingent band played “ The Girl I Left Behind Me.” The steamers got back to the whaif at dusk, by which time the Cornwall had made a good offing. She will call at Albany,
