A very successful seaside picnic was held at the breakwater to-day, when about 5000 visitors from all parts of the district were present. The chief attraction was the harbor excursion by the Takapuna, which was largely patronised, the weather being magnificent. At rifle practice to-day, some good shooting was again put up by the local corps, Color-Sergeant O’Key making the possible at 600 yards, seven shots, and Private Rogers making 49. out of oO at the same distance. . Several other good scores were also registered.
