DEATH OF JOHN FLETCHER. At fl o’clock last evening, the young man John Fletcher, against whom charges were pending of attempted suicide and attempted murder, died at the Hospital. He had been suffering for some time from the effects of carbolic. self-administered. Deceased was about twenty-five years of age, his parents residing in Auckland. Fletcher it will be remembered, through disappointment in love, rode from town to Karaka with a loaded revolver in his possession. He was frustrated in what appeared to lie an intention of shooting Miss How' Chow, and being released rode off, being found later onbadly burnt from the effects of carbolic. It is stated that the young man gave way to drink prior to the unfortunate occurrence. An inquest is to be held to-day,
