The election for Dewsbury seat, rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr Oldroyd, resulted in the return of Mr Runciman, a Liberal Imperialist, who polled 5669 votes against Mr Haley’s, Conservative, 4512, and Mr Queleh’s, Socialist, 1597.
