SPORTING.

THE TAKAPUNA MEETING,

(Special to Times.) Auckland, last night. The Takapuna Jockey Club’s Summer Meeting is to be continued to-morrow. The eommitteo of the club have resolved to pay out on the first and second horses on the inside machine as they have been doing recently on the outside one when the fields have exceeded six in number.

The Suburban Handicap, the first event, has 15 acceptors. Reclaimer, St. Olga, and Takapuna are the ones I fancy most.

The Maiden Hurdle Race may go to Lady Dash or Khama, but the event is very open.

The Pony Handicap will probably be won by First Whisper or Stepaway. For the Takapuna Handicap I have most fancy for Sparkling Water and Coronet.

For the Hobson Handicap I like Mary Seaton and Austerlitz.

The result of the Hack Race may be Miss Lottie, Cressy, and Mechanic. The Anniversary Handicap should be Highlander, Reclaimer, and Sundial.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The Basing Club dismissed the protest against Goldspur in the Federal Handicap.

POVERTY BAY TURF CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING.

In addition to the nominations received for the above meeting, Lady’s Link has been entered for the Turanga Stakes; Victoria Cross, Destroyer, and Lady’s Link for the Flying Handicap, and also for the Stewards’ Handicap ; Lady’s Link for the Sunderland Stakes ; and Victoria Cross for the Publicans’ Purse.
