RAILWAY works.

(To the Editor of the Times.) Sir —The stoppage of tho railway works looks very much like an electioneering dodge. It is well know that the men have been very dissatisfied with the way they have been treated, and would probably, when election day camo round, give expression to their feelings at the ballot box. Therefore it is necessary to got rid of those men in the hope that there will be a more suppliant lot available before tho election day comes round. Now we can see the wisdom and foresight of Mr Carroll not addressing a public meeting when he was in Gisborne. —I am, etc., Eight Color.
