Independent Order of Oddfellows

Tim Installation of Officers of Star of Gisborne Lodge, No. 61, American Constitution, took place last evening at the Masonic Hall, in the presence of over 75 out of a membership of 120 Brethren. The Most AA’orthy Grand Master Bro. John Aitken,. of Invercargill, ably officiated, assisted by P.G. Bro. John Dobbie as Grand Warden, J.P.G. Bro. J. H. Coleoourne, Grand Secretary and Treasurer; P.G. Bro. AVheeler, as Grand Marshal. The following brethren were installed and invested, namely: Junior Past Grand, Bro. .J. H. Colebourne ; Noble Grand, Bro.

R. Robb : A’ice-Grand, Bro. AV. Elriisly ; Secretary, Bro. J. Robb; Recording Secretary, Bro. A. G. AVheeler, P .Jr.; Treasurer, Bro. H. J. Bendle; Chaplain, Bro. J. Pcckover; Organist, Bro. C. A. Burrow; AA r arden, Bro. L. AVilliatns; Conductor, Bro. E. Cogar; Outer Guard, Bro. A. Davitt; Inner Guard, Bro. H. Hamblett; R.S. to U.G., Bro. All. AVade; L.g. to U.G., Bro. A\ r alter Smith ; R.S.S., Bro. P. Doyie ; L.S.S., Bro. J. Harris; R.S. to A'.G., Bro. S. AA T atson; L.S. to V.G., Bro. P. Sellar. During the evening seven new members were elected and others proposed. The Most AVorthy Grand Master then gave a brief address, dealing with the work of the officers and the finances of the order. The address was full of encouragement to the members, and recommended the establishment of a juvenile lodge as a further help to the adult lodge. During the evening, the Grand Master, hy request of the donor (Bro. 11. Robb), presented Bros. Elmsly (Vice-Grand) and Bendle (Treasurer) with a handsome album and gold pen respectively, for introducing the largest number of new members into the order during the past six months.

After the Lodge closed refreshments of a substantial nature were partaken of, and the following programme gone through : Song, Bro. Vowles ; recitation, Bro. Nis. bett; song, Bro. Sellars; song, Bro.
