In the House of Commons Mr Walton's amendment to the Address-in Reply that it is essential to safeguard British commercial and political interest in Persia, was withdrawn after Viscount Cranbourmexplaiuod that the policy was to maintain the status quo in Asia and preserve the integrity of Persia. Tt was, he said, impossible to abandon the British ascendancy in tbe Persian Guif and the southern provinces bordering on India. The American visible supply of wheat is estimated at 93.213.000 bushels. At the wool sales there was brisk, general competition. The opening prices were fully maintained. The Middle Temple has disbarred Di Krause. John Kinsit, the well-known antiRitualist, and others created a tumultuous scene at the Westminster Convocation in connection with Dr Gore's confirmation as Bishop of Worcester. His objections to the Church Association were overruled, and the ceremony completed amidst shouts of “ Farce ” and “ All lies.”
