In tho Federal House Mr Barton stated that lie had received a cable from Mr Chamberlain, that in view of the splendid response Australia had given to a recent request for troops, the Imperial Government very gladly accepts another thousand men on the same terms as the contingent now being raised. He proposed to reply to the Government without delay ; and comply with the request. In reply to a question Mr Barton said he had offered to provide transports, but the War Office expressed a desire to carry out transportation arrangements.
