In the House of Commons, Mr McNamara, member for Camberwell, moved an amendment to the Address-in-Reply, urging that provision be made for the better housing of the poor. This was negatived by 43 to 123, though it met with much sympathy. Mr Long, President of the Local Government Board, promised the appointment of a committee to consider the extension of „ riods of local loans. P P
