MAIL SERVICE.

The Senate's Commerce Committee favors a general subsidy of one million and seventy-two thousand dollars and a mail subsidy of four million seven hundred thousand dollars. It recommends fortnightly mail services with Samoa, New Zealand, and Australia, and lays stress on the early securing of superiority of service in the Pacific. The passage of Senator Frye’s Shipping Subsidy Bill is considered safe.
