COMMERCIAL.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company has received a cablegram from London stating:—“Frozen meat market: Canterbury mutton, 3 o-8d ; Napier, Wellington, and North Island, 3J-d; first quality lamb, 4Jd; second quality lamb, 4Jd.” i For the third wool sale of this season s series, held to-day, 14,220 bales were offered, including a few good station clips, and there was a very large attendance of Homo aud local buyers. Competition for all classes was much more spirited than at either of the previous sales, and fine lustrous wools and medium sorts showed sn advance of a farthing and a halfpenny as compared with last sale, coarse wools also being rather firmer. The local woollen mills were not such large purchasers as they have been, as they had to meet with the competition of Home buyers, and to secure merino wool they had to give fully a halfpenny more than at last sale. During the forenoon the range of prices was: Super greasy merino, 8d to Bjd ; medium, Gld to7’id; inferior 5d to (3d ; super half-bred, 8d; medium, 6d to 7d ; inferior, 3]d to sijd ; medium cross-bred, 4-Jd to 5) d; inferior, 23d to 4(-d ; long wool, 2id to 3Vd ; merino pieces. 4d to 7d : halfbred do., 2Vd to old; crossbred ditto, 2}d to4d; locks, Id to 2ld ; merino do., 3.[d to old.
