BATHING FATALITIES.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, Jan. 17. ■ Miss Thorpe, while bathing in the surf at Manly, got beyond her depth. Frederick Smallpage went to her assistance. He was caught In the undercurrent, and both were drowned, in view of Smallpage’s wife and two hundred spectators. A would-be rescuer had a narrow escape.
