A BRUTAL HUSBAND.

SAVAGELY ATTACKS A CONSTABLE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Invercargill, last night. A man named Scott has been sent to gaol for three months by the Orepnki Justices for assaulting Constable Ferguson. Scott’s daughter called up the constable, and told him that her father was murdering her mother. The constable accompanied the child, who was in her nightdress, to the house, and there he found Mrs Scott outside in her night clothing. She said she had been knocked about, and while Constable Ferguson was examining - her face, Scott came up and struck her twice in the face. Returning to the house he brought out a heavy iron bar and - rushed at the constable, who, stepping I aside, closed with him, threw him, and after a severe struggle got the handcuffs on. Sco’tt boars a bad character in the district.
