Ownership of Poodles.
PARIS, Nov. 30.—A suit now in Ccu: t here will interest Americans. It is the case of Mrs Lowther, a dashing. well-known Californian, against her divorced husband to regain possession of nine dogs. Mrs Lowther married in Paris eight years ago. She also secured her divorce here, ft setjj;.i that she and her husband were belli equally attached to their poodles, each declaring life not worth living v tnout them. At the time o' the separation the wife had the dogs, but afterwards the iii>snand organised a “ successful kidnapping expedition.” Hence the legal proceeding. A Her listening to the facts the Juigo remarked to one of the attorneys : “ If I am not mistaken these people do not fight for possession of their children ; it's dogs we are spjeaking of.” “ Yes, Your Honor,” answered the lawyer. “ llow many animals are there all ■told ?” asked the Judge. “ Nine." was the answer. “My !" exclaimed the Judge, “can I give them four and a half apiece ?” Decision was reserved for a fortnight.
