LIEUTENANT RUSSELL’S DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night.
The following cable has been received by the Premier in answer to his enquiries touching tho death of Captain Russell’s son Philip : —“ Tho War Office states that Lieutenant Russell was twice wounded while loading twenty-five men against a largely superior force of the enemy on December 19. He died from tho wounds next day.” CAPTAIN MOORHOUSE.
The Minister of Marine, has received advice that Captain Moorhouse, of the submarine vessel Lady Roberts, who was ill in tho hopital at Albany, has been discharged cured. He left that port for New Zealand on the 6th inst. LABOR DISPUTES. The recommendations of/the Conciliation Board in the stationary, traction, .and locomotive engineers’ dispute provided for a minimum wage of £3 per week or Is 3d per honr in freezing and gas works, and from Is to Is 2ld per hour elsewhere ; tho length of a week’s work to be from to 56 hours, the latter time being for freezing works.
