meeting was held on Monday evening, 6th inst., at Tiniroto, o£ that branch of New Zealand Farmers’ Union, which largely attouded by the members, e Chairman, in laying before the ing the report of the committee on orogress made since their last meeting, gratulated the branch on having oni tho necessary number of fifty memand pointed out that the funds in the s of their treasurer, Mr H. E. Kent,
.ved tho finances to be eminently satisructory. He then proceeded to point out the business of tho meeting, after the correspondence had been dealt with, which was chiefly to elect a delegate for the Provincial Conference, and give him the necessary instructions. Tho meeting then unanimously elected Mr Lissant Clayton to bo the delegate for the Tiniroto branch, and proceeded to OOnßider the nocessary instructions that should bo givon him. A very animated discussion took place, in which Messrs H. E. Kent, W. Sutherland, W. Whyte, P. Richardson, and St. Loger took an active part, but tho resolutions passed wore necessarily of a somewhat private character.
Mr St. Leger proposed and Mr Sutherland seconded that the meeting pass a hearty vote of thanks to the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce for its support to Tiniroto’s petition to the Government for telephonic communication, and that the secretary be instructed to write to tho president to that effect. The motion was carried unanimously. After a vote of thanks to the chairman the meeting was brought to a close at a late hour.
