jSPLENDID GOLD RETURNS. Auckland, last night,

The gold returns for Auckland district for the past three weeks, though operations were interfered with by the holidays, reached the satisfactory total of £43,632. This brings the total for 1901 (still incomplete) to £740,356. This is an increase over 1900 of £105,322. During the period commencing December 7th, and ending December 31st, the Waihi Goldmining Company’s mills, engaged for only 14 days, total 6921 tons treated, in addition to a parcel of slimes, for the splendid return of £29,382. The total output from the mine for the year just closed amounts to £455,386, bringing the gross yield to date to £1,974,512.
