A number of returned soldiers have decided to commence an action against the Government to recover tho balance of tho pay which they allege to be due. The action hinges on tho point whether they-were to be paid 4s Gd per day in excoss of Imperial pay. The Government contends that tho 4s 6d was meant to include the Imperial rate. Melbourne, Dec. 26. A mysterious Growing ease is reported
from Melbourne. Tho bodies of a woman named Chamberlain and threo children wore found floating in the Bay. Tho woman recently arrived from the country, and was in a depressed state. The whereabouts of her oldest daughter, aged 18. are unknown, and it is believed slie also has been drowned.
