Rival Admiral’s Case.

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright New York, Dec. 22.

Mr Long, Secretary of the Navy, has approved of the Court’s findings of fact in the Schley-Sampson case, and recommended that proceedings he dropped, but at President Roosevelt’s instance, demanded Edgar Stanton-Maclay, the historian’s resignation. Mr Eiiha Root, the Secretary of War, acting on President Roosevelt's instructions, reprimanded General Nelson Miles, Commandant of the Army, for commenting on the case, thus infringing the army regulations. General Miles explained that he merely blamed individuals forimpugning Schley’s courage and efficiency. He did not intend to criticise the Court.
