HEAT WAVE.
BAD TIMES IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph. Press Association. Copyright Sydney, Dec. 19. The barometer in the city has fallen to amongst tho nineties, hut is still very high in the country. Disastrous bush fires are raging in many districts, and there has been much destruction of grass and fencing and damage to wheat and fruit crops. A number of settlors have been burned out. Several cases of heat apoplexy, one fatal, are reported from the country. Brisbane, Dec. 19. A man dropped dead from the heat at Ipswich. Another is in a serious condition.
