QUEENSLAND’S SURPRISE.
OFFERS A SHARE OF CONTINGENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Brisbane, Dec. 16. The Premier is surprised that Mr Barton has done no more towards sending a contingent to South Africa, especially in the face of tbo action of New Zealand arid Canada. Ho thinks that three thousand might be sent. He says Queensland is prepared to raise her quota on population basis, say five hundred.
