STOCK SALE.
Yesterday, Messrs Common, Shelton, and Co.’s monthly salo of stock was held at Waeronga-a-hika, there being a good attendance, and Mr Kells being the auctioneer. The firm reports: “At our monthly stock sale, we yarded 18-1 head of cattle, the majority of which wero of good quality; a number of them were out of condition. Dairy cattle wore in strong demand, but, owing doubtless to the big drop in the' price of sheep, the bidding was not as brisk as usual for other classes, and buyers were inclined to hang back a little. Taking everything into consideration, however, the prices realised wero fully better than wo expected. Wo sold 120 head, including the following lines 9 21-year-old steers, good quality, £5 11s ; 11 2-year-old steers, good quality, £4 14s ; smaller steers, same age, JM Is ; 40 yearling steers, low condition, j£3 ; 15 yearling heifers, <£3 ; 7 yearling heifers, extra good, H 3 11s ; 12 yearling heifers, d£B 2s; dairy cows, from £5 10s to £1 15s. We had no entries of sheep. Our next salo takes place on Thursday, January 9.
