London, Dec. 8. Wheat: 10,000 quarters of new Victorian December-January shipment sold at 30s.
Copper, spot and three months, is at £22 2s fid.
Tin : Spot, £ll3 ss; threo months, £lO6 10s,
Kauri gum stock : 1539 cases. Frozen mutton and beef of all sorts aro unchanged in price. Lamb, prime Canterbury, is at 4.L1; fair average, 4jd, Wool: The competition is keen at late rates. Kagsntonesold at 14 pi, and Loslio at 15jjd. Up to date 121,000 bales have been satalogued, and 110,070 sold. Wellington, last night. The Agent-General’s cablegram, duted London the 7th, states :—“ Mutton market weak. Competition amongst holders of mutton to clear stocks has lowered values. The average prices aro : Canterbury, 3]d ; Dunedin, Southland, and Wellington Meat Export Companies, 3d: North Island, 2;]d ; River Plate, 2 0-Bd. Prices for lamb aro nominal. Canterbury, 4 3-8(1; other j brands, 4,}d. The new season’s Australian lamb is of very mixed quality, at 3 5-Bd. Beef is dull. New Zealand hinds, 3]d ; fores, 2pl. Butter is steady. The Wakanui’s butter arrived in good condition, and sold at from 107 s to 110 s. Some holders are forcing sales. There is a better demand forcheeso, which is at 475. The hemp market is lifeless. Good fair Wellington £33, January-Mareh shipment £31.”
