ENGLAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES A GRAND FINISH. NEW SOUTH WALES WINS BY 53 RUNS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney. Nov. 27. The match England v. New South Wales was concluded to-day. the New South Wales team winning by 53 runs.
Tile weather was beautiful, being cool and pleasant. The wicket proved a fiery one, and was crumbling a little. The Englishmen began badly, Clarke getting the wickets ot Jones and Jessup without those batsmen having added to the score.
Lilley was partnered by Tyldeslev. Both altered the complexion of the game. They hit out all round, playing Clarke freely. Lilley made some tine strokes, and hit three fours oil Clarke in succession. Tyldeslev at -id gave a difficult chance in the slips, which Clarke was not quick enough to take. Lilley had a life a little later at Howell’s hands.
A change of bowling to Truniper anti Hopkins proved expensive, and Howell and Clarke came on again. The latter, with the first ball, tempted Tyldesloy, who skied one to Trumpet' at mid-oil. The partnership added SO to the total score. Braund joined Lilley after lunch. Lilley scored live, and Trumpet' came on in place of Clarke. Lilley lifted one back to Truniper in his second over. Gunn followed with a brief, inglorious innings. He poked feebly at one from Howell, which scattered the wickets.
Braund was playing soundly. Barnes, the last man, knocked up 13 when Howell got his wicket. The following arc the complete scores ; New South Wales.— First Innings. Noble, b Braund ... ... -•- 22
