London, Nov. 24. Tho Statist newspaper heads an appeal for volunteer corps to serve in South Africa with a subscription of one thousand guineas, Melbourne, Nov. 2d. Despite Mr Barton’s announcement that no more contingents would be sent to South Africa, several of the State commandants have been unofficially endeavoring to obtain re-consideration of the matter. The South Australian commandant suggests that one thousand men ho offered on behalf of tho Commonwealth. Feeling that the Commonwealth are unfavorable to sending more men, Mr Irvine moves a consuro motion in the State Assembly to-morrow.
