[ffy Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night.
A fortnight ago a mail named William George Garrard caused a sensation in the Police Court by jumping upon Dr. Laishley, solicitor, and throwing him upon the floor. To-dav, before the Stipendiary Magistrate, Garrard was charged with threatening behaviour on the occasion in question. Garrard pleaded guilty under gieat provocation, and asked if the solicitor had a right to call him a “ D—d old scoundrel ” in the Court. The Magistrate asked accused if the Justices did not send him to gaol at once. Garrard replied '‘No; they said ‘when you two gentlemen have finished your discussion we will get on with the case.’ ” The Magistrate expressed regret at being unable to deal with the affair as contempt of Court at this stage.
